” I became an artist to tell my story, to refuse to let my voice be silenced, and to preserve my humanity. Despite the deprivation and challenges imposed by social norms and armed conflicts, I never allowed them to undermine my determination and conviction. I fought with all my might against the anxiety and ignorance that sought to overwhelm me. My artwork is therefore the most authentic illustration of my relentless struggle as an Afghan woman from the post-Taliban era. It is also a tribute to the strength and determination of thousands of women who, like me, have refused to be silenced. “
